One the biggest things of following Jesus, is to encourage others in faith. In many areas of our life, especially financially, we look up to people who are better and stronger than us as a standard or a goal to reach. God uses that to an advantage.
"...by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, 'it is more blessed to give than to receive' (Acts 20:35)
What do you identify as giving to help someone weaker than you?
What has been your experience in giving?
"One gives freely, yet grows all the richer, another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want." (Proverbs 11:24)
By giving we approach an opportunity to point back to God and express his fame and glory.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Know that your giving to the church is merely an overflow of your generosity to God. He would rather have your daily obedience than your big promises of when you achieve your goals.
"Do not lay up for yourself treasure on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal... But seek first the kingdom of God where and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:19, 33)
